Lab Scope

Treatment of onco-hematological diseases is often complicated by the development of resistance. Cells that resist the therapy are the cause of aggressive relapse. What these cells are and how they gain the properties that allow them to overcome drug toxicity remains unclear. Elimination of these resistant leukemia cells is one of the greatest challenges in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia.

Our laboratory is focused on basic and translational research on how redox metabolism affects the proteome dynamics of leukemia cells and their response to chemotherapy. In particular, we are interested in how changes in the redox environment affect protein function and localization. We use mass spectrometry-based proteomic approaches and combine these tools with biochemical, cell biological and genetic approaches to understand how oxidative modifications of proteins affect protein function and regulate fundamental biological processes involved in the development of resistance.
